Membership & Joining
If you have taken the time to research Freemasonry and have decided to approach Masonry Universal Lodge No. 40, here is an overview of our process and requirements.
The key question we ask you to reflect on is: Why Freemasonry?
Commitment to the Craft
Becoming a Mason is a long-term, and ideally lifelong, commitment to personal development and to the community. We meet 2 to 3 Monday evenings per month (September to June). Regular attendance is essential to fully benefit from the Masonic experience.
Current Waitlist: Due to high demand, there is currently a substantial waiting period. However, we maintain social and informal contact with candidates and invite them to selected Lodge events during this time.
Application Requirements
To begin the process, please prepare the following two documents:
- Current CV: A one-page synopsis of your professional and personal background.
- Letter of Motivation: Explaining your interest, expectations, and why you wish to join an English-speaking Lodge in Geneva.
At a later point in the process, we will ask for your Swiss police record (Extrait de Casier Judidiaire) and your debt record (Extrait de Poursuit), and you will be informed accordingly.
