Masonry Universal Lodge was consecrated in July 1955 to serve the Masonic needs of the English-speaking community in the Geneva region. Its founders obtained agreement from the national Grand Lodge to work, in English, the three Emulation degrees familiar to many English Masons. Over the subsequent years, the Lodge maintained an average membership of between 40 and 50 in a transient, multicultural and multinational environment. Today, we are well over 70 members. Subject to rearrangement due to Public Holidays, our regular meetings take place at 3 rue Firmin-Massot, 1206 Geneva, on the second Monday of the month (October to June inclusive), starting at 7.00 pm - although we do seem to be adding a September meeting on a regular basis. The signature book is available from 6.30 pm. The Installation Meeting is usually spread over three meetings: the May meeting, an extraordinary meeting on the second Monday of June, and the third Saturday in June, starting at 3.00 pm. Extraordinary regular meetings may be scheduled; these would probably take place on the fourth Monday of the month. We do not normally meet during July, August and September (but see above). Masonry acts for the benefit of society as well as the self-development of its members. If you are a just, upright and free man, of mature age, sound judgment and strict morals, consider Freemasonry as a way to help make yourself a better man, and the world a better place. If you are already a Freemason, and are relocating to the Geneva area - or simply visiting the area - please feel free to contact us for further information. If you are interested in Freemasonry and have explored the links available to you - including those in this web site - you may also contact us for further information.
News
April's meeting took place on the 23rd, two weeks later than normal, as Easter Monday fell on our normal meeting date of the 9th, and we could not use the premises for a ceremony on the 16th. It was a very special meeting, attended by numerous members and visitors, including the Grand Master and three of his Grand Officers. They were with us to present two senior Brethren with gold medals to celebrate their 60 years' service to Freemasonry; a memorable occasion for all who were present. In addition to these presentations, we had another Initiation ceremony, and a very well-attended and enjoyable festive board. The next event is Ladies' Night on 5 May, where we take the opportunity to thank our partners for all their support. This year it will again be a joint event with our daughter Lodge, Hiram, and will take place at the Warwick Hotel in Geneva. Then we have a few more degree ceremonies planned befor the Installation of our new Worshipful Master on 23 June. For all our meetings, whether you are a member of our Lodge or a visiting Mason, please let us know if you will be at the meeting, and please ALWAYS CALL OR E-MAIL THE JW IF YOU INTEND TO STAY FOR THE FESTIVE BOARD. If you do not do so, we may not be able to find a spare meal for you! Please visit this site again for more information. There is a "new look" (yes, its still under development) so you may get a pleasant surprise on your next visit ... We look forward to seeing you on a regular basis! If you are a member, we expect to see you at our meetings. Having joined our Lodge, we are keen to see you participate in its activities. As a visiting brother, we look forward to welcoming you to one - or more - of our meetings. Please check the schedule on page 3 of this web site and contact us for further information. On behalf of the Worshipful Master, Officers and all the Brethren of Masonry Universal Lodge, thank you for visiting our web site. Please come again soon!
